There is a delightful ballet on at the moment written especially for young children in mind. Presented by The English National Ballet and the English National Ballet School is My First Cinderella, a ballet choreographed by George Williamson to music by Prokofiev with narrative by Jane Wymark.

My First Cinderella is a short introduction to the often confusing grown up world of Ballet. With the narrator explaining the story and making the ballet interactive much like a pantomime it enables very young children to get involved and understand what is actually happening. I would recommend this for young children, I’d say my 10 year old daughter is just on the cusp of being too old to see this as the narrative can be a little annoying if you do know what is going on. There are lots of pretty dresses and tutus to gasp at although it would have been nice to see a few more and in different colours. We loved the Jester and there is lots of humour in the performance to keep the adults amused.

The tickets are reasonably priced and at just 1 hour 20 minutes long it is short enough to keep tiny tots entranced for the whole performance.
The Ballet is on at The Peacock Theatre in London until April 7th. This is a very easy theatre to get to from Charing Cross and then the ballet tours across the country until 26 May 2013. For tickets and more information see the website.
