Our life is simple really because that’s the way we like it even though a large family needs structure and organisation. It’s loud at times, fraught at times and sometimes tearing out hair frustrating when the children are all arguing but I wouldn’t change it for the world. We are not really an outdoorsy active family, not particularly P.C.  nowdays but we’re not lazy though and we have been lucky to have a huge garden and activities on tap so in the summer there is plenty to do. We also have two big ponds and one son in particular can spend hours trying to catch fish or watching the wildlife. You may remember this post when we were both a little shocked at what we saw .

We have been lucky to travel around the world, staying in the most luxurious places imaginable but although that is not possible now the children never moan.

It’s the simple things that make us happy now because at the end of the day it doesn’t matter where you live or what luxuries you do or don’t have, family and spending time together is what it is all about.

We love ;

– Watching a film together on a Sunday afternoon all huddled up together on the sofas, we won’t mention how long it takes to come to an agreement about the film, or what happens if someone’s feet touches someone else’s or if someone is munching their goodies too loudly. Those precious moments mean so much to all of us

– A lie-in. We are a family of sleepers, apart from the toddler

– A home made cake but we are all especially partial to Nanna’s chocolate cake

– Family get togethers. The children love having their grandparents and extended family around

– Music! We put the music on really loudly and have a big family dance around and pretend we’re at a disco.

– Building camps! We all love a good camp inside or out.

– Snow! I know it’s a bit taboo but honestly? We love snow, especially if it means several snow days and no school!

What does your family love doing?

  2. Mmmm, what a lovely post – I felt like I was there eating a piece of cake, looking at things in the pond and best of all snuggling up on the sofa to watch a film. Love how these simple pleasures can mean so much – thank you for sharing 🙂

  7. I love all your simple pleasures! Sounds very much like us. In the summer we love getting the “paddling pool” out (although it is big enough for adults & takes about half a day to fill!) & splashing around in that. Love love the snow too.
