The Product Claims– Superdrug sent me a bottle of their Swiss Apple Overnight Renewal Serum a few weeks ago which I have been using every night. It promises to work while I sleep leaving it moisturised and regenerated in the morning. It also claims that in just four weeks the serum can help reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

“Revolutionary anti-aging serum with PhytoCellTec extract from the Swiss Apple to promote a fresher and younger-looking complexion.”

The Price– I’m a bit of a skin care snob……I have been lucky to use some very expensive products in the past, I also have very dry skin and find that moisturiser on it’s own doesn’t really do the job. Anyway, this serum from Superdrug costs £9.99, a middle of the price range, fairly reasonable. After four weeks I have used about a third of the bottle, so I expect a bottle would last about three months the way I have been using it.

The Packaging– It comes in a pretty green box and when unpackaged you are not left with a ton of packaging to dispose of which can happen with some skincare products I’ve used in the past. After looking around the box and in the box I couldn’t find any instructions, I like instructions to guide me as to how to use a product, when, where, how much. Unfortunately  I couldn’t find any so used a dropper full every night after cleansing my skin and before I used my moisturiser. The 30ml of serum comes in a glass bottle which I liked but the dropper didn’t seem to work very well, I’ve been ‘scooping’ the serum out with it rather than squeeze drops onto my fingers which is a shame.

Does it work? Well my skin has not been dry since I have been using the serum, it feels soft and mosturised. To be honest I have not noticed an improvement on my wrinkles and lines but it is having to work against a woman who burns the candle at both ends, has five children turning her hair grey, someone with a penchant for wine and to be fair I don’t have that many wrinkles….yet. I have so far not found a product that can really eliminate wrinkles….I believe more in prevention and the way this serum keeps my skin hydrated I think it may well do it.

Would I buy it? Yes I would.

  1. I have just started to use it. At the moment I find it drying.

    1. Really? That’s a shame, I definitely don’t find that. In fact I still use it as I like it so much. I hope it improves.

  2. I visited my local Superdrug last weekend, and was ‘talked’ into buying a pot of the Optimum Swiss Apple.
It is one of the best decisions i have made. It smells fabulous and it glides on. It has a really smooth texture, and sinks into your skin really quickly so it doesn’t feel greasy. I will definitely buy again.

  3. Well I’m on my second bottle now – makes your skin feel gorgeous when you’ve put it on, and I can also feel the difference in the morning, plus my make-up seems to stay put for longer too! Have noticed a subtle difference in the lines around my eyes, although I don’t have loads or anything as I’m only 35, but prevention and all that!

I definately think it’s worth the money, even when it goes up to the regular price of £14.99
