Written and illustrated by Keith Robinson ‘The Adventures of Penny the Postie’ depict tales of  Penny who delivers letters to all sorts of exciting places. Penny manages to find herself on a desert island after discovering a magical postbox, she goes on a treasure hunt with Captain Titch and helps him fight back the mean Captain Bully Bones. Penny and the Pirates particularly appealed to Little M, aged three years, who is fascinated by pirates. Little I, aged seven years, has loved listening in to this now bedtime story favourite. I thought it the perfect length of story for a toddler to listen to. There is a fair amount going on in the pictures as well which has opened up more discussion. As a lovely little touch, the book comes with a set of collectible stamps too. The only tiny gripe for me was the ending, I think little ones need a proper finish and I wanted to read more…..

Anyway, I asked Little I to write down what she thought, although I have corrected the spelling this is exactly what she wrote:

“I thought Penny and the Pirates was a good book because I like the part when Penny falls into the postbox and lands on a desert island. I would rate it five out of five because the story has lots of descriptive writing in it and has lots of colourful pictures in the book”
