I had just given birth to my first child….sixteen years ago now, when my aunt gave me a very well read and thumbed copy of ‘Like Water For Chocolate’ by Laura Esquivel

– I read it for the many hours I breast fed my son. I remember lying there holding the book in my free hand laughing and crying, and enjoying a whole new experience of South American writers…a love that has stayed with me ever since. The plot revolves around Mexican cooking, love, emotions….and chocolate. All pluses before we begin…and the Spanish meaning behind the title is very interesting too. If you haven’t read this book I would thoroughly recommend it.

This has been inspired by the online photo gallery at Sticky Fingers…..this week’s prompt is ‘A Novel Idea’ Click on the badge to take you to all the other entries.
