After yet another fraught morning I’ve come to the sudden realisation that I have two children going through puberty at the same time…..gawd help me!

Most school mornings consist of these ‘conversations’ – technically not conversations because they are so one sided…

“Eat with your mouth closed.”

“Grrrrr, can’t you make less noise when you chew that?”

“Urghhh, that’s disgusting!”

“Hurry up!!”

“Oh shut up! ”   A particular bug bear of mine.

” You’re such an idiot!”  Another gripe

” Why can’t you help? ”

” Stop going on at me!!”

“Muuummmm, tell him/her to stop doing that!!”

“You’re weird!” Another pet hate of mine

“Don’t ……touch me!”

” You’re sooo lazy”

“Oh I can’t believe you did that!”

“Stop sitting there doing nothing!”

Sobs in the background…whimpers….oh that’s me!! I can hear myself getting fainter and fainter…..sounding so weak. “Please stop…please don’t argue.” In the end today I hid in the larder…in the dark counting to …..well lets just say it was a lot more than ten!

In all seriousness it sounds funny…..it’s not. He’s just thirteen, she is eleven and a half. Nineteen months between them….equals puberty- hormones, anger and frustrations all at the same time!!! Not sure whether my blood pressure can take it.

Oh and any offers of teenage skincare products to try out gratefully received….

Oh and after having a weeny rant on Twitter this morning it seems the best way of dealing with this is ear plugs, chocolate, music and alcohol!! Not sure I can get away with the alcohol on the morning school run but perhaps if it was drunk in copious amounts the night before, nursing my hangover would render me oblivious to it all in the morning?? ;D

  1. Oh, I feel bad as I was laughing and then you said it wasn’t funny, sorry! Us Mums of toddlers don’t know we’re born do we?! How do you manage to not shout ‘It’s only going to get worse!’ at our posts of toddler tantrums and poo-y fingers?! May the force be with you, if it’s any consolation I’ve spent the rest of my adult life making up to my Mum and buying her nice gifts by way of an apology for my poor behaviour and sibling bickering/fighting.

My teenage dirtbag of a niece swears by The Body Shop products by the way.

    1. I cannot tell you how much my blood boils when they start……and yet reading it it does sound funny…maybe I just need to leave the room and let them get on with it. I hate them being horrible to each other though.

Thanks for the recommendation….I’ll go and have a look. :0)

  3. Having just the one hormone-induced teen is bad enough; can’t possible imagine having two of them at the same time. But, if I recall correctly, (at least for the boy) give it a year or so and the hormones will calm down enough that there should only be occasional flare ups. At least it seems that it worked out that way for us.

    1. These two have always clashed if anyone else is around….but add hormones to the mix and ‘bang!’ Fingers crossed they calm down soon. ;0S XX

      1. Just read your reply to scribblingmum – I’d agree, take your own advice and leave them to it (unless it escalates into violence, of course). They need to learn to deal with each other. Can’t hurt to try it.xxx

  4. I have most of that with a nearly 4 and 5 year old. I am putting my foot down and make them get ready and eat breakfast before anything else. I am dreading the hormones.
