I was tagged in the ‘Happiness Meme’ quite a while ago by the very talented Gappy from Single Parenthood.Tales from the front-line. Anyone that knows me will know that things have been tough for the children and I for a long time now and it is sometimes so difficult to see or experience happy things through the fog but today something that made me really happy occurred so I have seized the opportunity to search deep within this day for happy times.

This Meme requires me to write  about ten things that have made me happy today and like Gappy that is going to be tough, but I will attempt it. Here goes :

1.  I had a lie-in, anyone with children will know that this can be a rare occasion. A bit longer would have been even lovelier but maybe I’m just being greedy. A good start to the day.

2. The Big One… I had a direct message on Twitter from @notSupermum saying that her competition for a spa day had been drawn and the post was on her blog and guess what it was me that won it!! I can’t believe it and that has certainly made me happy, really happy. I am still smiling, I can’t wait for my day of pampering.

3. Chocolate……there is a ton of it in the house, so much that I’m sure the children won’t notice small amounts going missing.

4. Toddler smiles, that cheeky grin is irresistible.

5. For the second day in a row the sun is shining, it’s cold but the sky is blue with a few fluffy clouds….how can that not make someone happy?

6. It’s a bank holiday, therefore a day of vegging out doing absolutely nothing is allowed.

7. Diet coke….yes I know that sounds weird but I thought I only had one can left but there are a few….that makes me smile. I couldn’t go without my daily diet coke. That would have meant a trip out to stock up, now I don’t. Phew! Yes I’m struggling and really scraping the barrel now.

8. Having the foresight to buy a huge vat of bubbles for the children to play with in the garden…it has given me a bit of peace and quiet just when i thought I couldn’t take any more pleas of, “Play table tennis Mummy” from the toddler. Result= Happiness.

9. Hmmm, think, think…..oooo- this is so hard that it’s sad. I may just have to cheat and go into fantasy mode…hold on the phone is ringing…… OMG- that was Richard Branson on the phone, I’ve no idea where he got my number from but he has offered Necker Island to me and the children and ten friends for a week, plus his private jet to get us there whoo hooo.

10. You’ll never guess what but I just weighed myself and those stubborn pounds, all ten of them have miraculously disappeared. Amazing when I have eaten so much chocolate recently. Must be a special chocolate diet….. I am so happy! ;0)

STOP PRESS: Genuine happy thing happens ….big brothers separately taking their little brother out for cricket,bubbles and bug hunting. Awwww, they can be great sometimes! That makes me really happy.
