When I was a child I loved Easter, it involved lots of chocolate, church on Easter Sunday, all those films that I loved on the television in excess and the shops were closed. The fact that the shops were closed made it seem all the more special. As a family we always celebrated the day, all getting together for a big celebration. More often than not we would have turkey and if we were lucky there would be a, leftover from Christmas, homemade Christmas pudding to eat too.
When my grandparents were alive, a very long time ago, my Nanny would buy Easter eggs because they were pretty. This would result in me being given so many that it would take months to eat them all. Maybe that was the start of my long bumpy road of chocoholism.
Am I the only one that finds it sad that the shops remain open the whole holiday? I feel sorry for people that have to work in shops, no wonder family time is often non-existent. The celebration has become more about commercialism than anything else. Apart from the obvious religious connotations,if you choose to believe that, this should be a holiday for celebrating spring, new beginnings, family time, old films, fluffy yellow chicks, sunshine, chocolate and dare I say it DIY on bank holiday Monday.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the Easter egg hunts and fluffy bunnies and of course all the chocolate, I just wish that sometimes everyone gets the break that they deserve as they did in the past. Maybe I’m just old fashioned and this is progress…..oh well.
Anyway…. I wish you a very happy peaceful Easter. Don’t eat too much chocolate…….leave some for me! ;0)

loving the makover!! Me and hubby work in retail and it is so hard trying to get the time off around bank holidays and such. you are not allowed to book holiday off around easter and christmas!!!! its crazy and so unfair!! He worked last night and tonight but thankfully he’s off tomorrow,monday and tuesday 😀

Progress??? Shove it! I agree that people should get the weekend off, it’s no wonder society’s in the state it is with no one every getting to go home.
And I shall leave it there before I begin to rant!
