“Do you fancy a coffee?”, “Let’s do coffee soon”, “Shall we go and get a coffee?” “Time for a break, coffee?” How many times do you say those words? What did we do before them? Bump into a friend that you haven’t seen for ages and chances are you’ll make arrangements, or, say “we must go for a coffee soon and catch up,” and perhaps it won’t happen but then again maybe it will. Or…a first date, a blind date, going for a coffee is a good one.

I have to admit that a treat whilst on a shopping treat is no longer stroking a Mulberry handbag, it is stopping for a coffee, I have no problem doing it alone…in fact it feels an even bigger treat. I am easily pleased.

Coffee is behind many a social occasion; coffee mornings in abundance especially contrived to bring together people that wouldn’t normally cross paths.

And although coffee shops are relatively new in popularity, coffee first came to Europe in the 17th century. Wow.

So, although I do always have to treat myself to a coffee on every shopping trip it is also a great way of catching up with friends, old, and a way of making new friends too.

And celebrate friendship we should. Where would we all be without friends?
