I am sure I have mentioned before that I have a little obsession with all things Arctic and get very sad at the thought that the arctic ice could all melted as early as the middle of the century.* Obviously the impact on the wildlife is unspeakable but it will actually have a knock on effect on us all. It is a scary thought.
Coca Cola and the WWF have once again partnered to launch Arctic Home, a joint initiative to raise awareness and funds to help protect the majestic polar bear. They hope to protect the home of the polar bear and allow polar bear mums to have somewhere safe to give birth and raise their cubs. With the sea ice forming later in the year, pregnant bears are faced with having to swim long distances to find land.

The launch kicked off with people around the country taking part in a live art display which depicts an image of a mother polar bear and her cub. They are pretty impressive images aren’t they.
This year Europe Coca Cola will match all donations via Arctic Home up to €1million. The site is a great source of information about the plight of the polar bear and it’s Arctic home.
Money raised will help:
- Tracking polar bear mothers
- Monitoring polar bear den sites
- Mapping polar bears’ future habitat
- Co-existing in the Arctic (Bear patrols to stop bear and human conflict)
- Educating on threats from industry
- Preserving the Arctic food chain
