I haven’t really written much about my degree journey recently. I think it all got a bit frantic with end of year assignments and then I put it to the back of my mind as quickly as possible.

Well, you’ll be pleased to hear I passed the first year. I passed very well but was a bit disappointed with one of my marks, it wasn’t horrendous but a lot lower than I’d been scoring on previous assignments for that module. Oh well, at least the other assignments pulled up the final grade.
Belonging to several forums for people doing the same courses as me saw a lot of chat quite early in as to which courses everyone was going to do next and although I had an idea in the back of mind I wasn’t totally committed, firstly to which courses and secondly as to whether I wanted to carry on at all.

It hasn’t been easy; juggling full time studying as well as trying to build up my little blog, plus children etc etc. There were fraught times over the eight months. However I am also aware that it is only eight months…I had so many plans for my four months off, sort out the garage (in ‘anticipation’ of our house move next year) read the stack of books that I’ve been itching to read (haha, who told me doing a degree would put me off reading?) and so much more. Have I done any of that? Of course not. The blog got busier, then the children broke up, and we just enjoyed the summer.
This resulted in me applying very late to do the second year of my BA(Hons) in Humanities degree. So this year I am studying creative writing,  something I would like to do more of, although the thought of someone reading my creations terrifies me. The other module I am doing is religion, for someone who is not religious this may seem an odd choice, but people, lifestyle and choices, or not, fascinate me. I am wondering if I’m doing the wrong degree though, perhaps a social science degree would have suited me better? Too late now. Hey ho.

After a summer of bliss which included a short break with a friend in Ibiza, a lovely few days with the children in London and then utter spoiling at Walt Disney World Florida on the culinary showcase press trip it is back to reality with a bump.
Therefore rather than last year’s excitement and expectations this year I know what pain to expect, I know how hard it is going to be…but hopefully the end result will be just as rewarding, a bit like giving birth then. Eeekkk.
