Just for those little monsters in your house is a the McDoggle’s Monster Farm series written by Mark Chambers and James McKnight. There are two books available at the moment each 32 pages long and retailing at the reduced price of £5.39 at the moment from Top That publishing.
McDoogle’s Monster Farm is an unusual farm where you will find monsters eating socks, monsters eating leaves from the special difflebug plant, miserable monsters, scary monsters and even monsters that glow in the dark. Then there is Diggle , the little boy who helps Farmer McDoogle look after the monsters.
Perfect for toddlers and beyond, the books will delight with their brightly coloured pages filled with monsters. The drawings are lovely, if a little disgusting at times with the long snouts, mud and obvious foul smells. Just what little boys and girls delight at!
The stories are quite good but word of warning make sure your teeth are in correctly because the names of the monsters, such as Nooglebooglers, Googlynippers, Funderbigglers and Foppledingers aren’t the easiest to get your mouth around. That was a slight downside for me…but then I am getting old. 😉
All in all M, aged 4 years old enjoyed them but he hasn’t been asking me to read them over and over again.
We award the McDoogle Monster Farm books 3 out of 5 cupcakes
We have been enjoying the Froobles app also from Top That Publishing, and free at the moment from the App store. There is games, stories, puzzles and much more and M has come back to it time and again. Recommended for children aged 4+

With celebrity narratars Johnny Vaughn, Denise Van Outen, Reggie Yates and Edith Bowman this app is available on for iPhones and iPads. The app is clear and bright and easy for children to follow independently. There is a lot to do within each story. We really like this. The Froobles books are also available as eBooks and we have been enjoying these too. Prices vary from £1.49 – £2.49 for each story.
