When you have five children and their ages span out over thirteen years, with a mixture of boys and girls, it can sometimes be difficult to come up with the perfect day out. In this age of technology it is so easy for children to get ‘lost’ in a world of fantasy, never interacting with the people around them or even grabbing some of those precious vitamin D inducing rays.
Putting up with teenage groans though and dragging them to a park, albeit one St James’ park in London where the marathon happened to end was well worth it for these memories. This is what it is all about, they may hate each other at times as most siblings do at some point in their lives but they are learning important life skills at the same time.
This is why I became a mum, to see this, share this and watch the interaction between my children. I feel very honoured to have this opportunity.
Little M absolutely loves playing rough and tumble with his brothers and sisters. I really hope they remember these fun times from their childhood.
It won’t be long before my biggest ‘baby’ will be off into the big wide world…what a gap that will leave. Thank goodness for long holidays.
Hmmm, no idea either.
For some this may be the norm every weekend but it doesn’t in our house due to school or other commitments so when we get days like these I treasure the moments. I don’t want them to rush by, I actually wish time would slow down. There are times when I want out and feel that I cannot take much more but days like these make my stomach flutter with so much love and emotion for these five children that I cannot imagine not having anymore days like these. I count my blessings every day. 🙂

GREAT pics of your kiddies Nova! What a lovely day out you had. I know exactly how you feel at trying to find something to tear them away from the technology that they all will enjoy. It’s so easy to just let the days pass. I think they will treasure these times as I still remember a lot of them from my childhood. So don’t stop making them happen!

Practice…trial and error. Have had lots of disastrous days out and they are usually the ones that cost a lot and everyone has high expectations of. 🙂
