I have always loved this photo. My baby girl on the morning her baby brother was born. She had been terribly ill during the night so spent it in my bed while I laboured quietly in between snoozing. Little M decide to make an appearance on the day the Tour de France was going through the South East of England and my midwife lived right on the bike route so I called her early to ensure she could actually get to me. Little I slept until 9 am and woke up feeling much better. She refused to leave my side throughout labour, not something I had planned but she stayed and was there when Little M was born in the birthing pool. She immediately became my not so little baby girl. I have so many lovely photos of her with a big beaming smile as she cuddled her new brother. Nowdays, she mothers him and pulls him around playing their imaginary games, it’s very sweet. I just wish time would slow down, it is whizzing by far too quickly.

  2. When I first saw the photo, I actually thought it was a professional shot, like for a catalogue or something! It’s absolutely stunning, from the styling of the room, to you wee girl’s immersion in whatever she is looking at, and the way that the light in coming into the room. Really lovely.

  3. I agree with all of the above, what a gorgeous photo of a gorgeous little girl. Hard to come up with something different but I’ll say it could have come straight out of a Laura Ashley catalogue – floaty dress on pretty girl complete with nice curtains! 😉 x

  11. That’s a lovely photo, and great to hear the story behind it. I remember that day – I was in Canterbury at my friends house and we went to watch the cyclists go past. Glad your midwife could make it!
