It’s been a weird week, in some ways it has flown by but in others last Monday seems so far away. As usual my life was dominated by being an unpaid taxi driver, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m not sure how much longer I can do everything. Between them, my daughters do eight dance classes a week and now that the petrol prices have increased to astronomical highs I am putting £90 worth of petrol in my car a week! That is a huge proportion of my monthly income. I remember well the protests and sit ins when prices were approaching the 90p or £1 mark and yet here we are paying another third on top of that and have just accepted it.

I discovered this week that vodka mixed with elderflower cordial is very delicious and have realised that there is no way I can abstain from alcohol completely, or chocolate for that matter, oh or carbs. I’ve just got to learn to love myself as I am. Also, I am definitely a fair weather runner and no that doesn’t just mean dry weather and sun, it means the temperature has got to be over 10 ºC. That lets me off the hook for a while yet then, phew! 😉

I’ve become the appliance queen of late, not satisified with a bread maker, a juicer, food processor, slow cooker or coffee machine I am now the proud owner of an ice cream maker and a halogen oven! More on the oven later this week, and while I love these shiny appliances where the hell is one supposed to store them? I need to build a whole new room just to display them. Wouldn’t that be the bee’s knees!

The week involved a couple of trips to London, one to see the musical ‘Love Story’. It’s been a while since I’ve been to a musical and I had a lovely evening with my mother. We stopped off at a little bistro first along with ten’s of other theatre goers and that made a lovely treat. A review of the show to follow later this week. The second trip was on Sunday the reason for which I can’t actually talk about at the moment. I had a couple of hours to spare so after spending two hours getting to London which was nearly double the time it should have been thanks to awful Sunday train service, I rushed in to watch The Black Swan at the Vue cinema in Leicester Square on my own! I have never been to the cinema on my own but it was fine, very pleasant in fact, and I am now wondering why I have never done it before. The film has had mixed reviews but I absolutely loved it! It was dark, moody, scary, depressing but I found it utterly believable and if you can, go and see it. Watching it on a big screen must surely make the viewing experience all the more better.

As I came out of the cinema there were lots of people walking around wearing gnome hats and unbeknown to me it was the UK premiere of Gnomeo and Juliet. I had wondered what all the security was for, bah, I need to be more alert and on the ball.  I had just missed a whole host of stars including Emily Blunt, Elton John, James McAvoy, Boy George and also the film’s director Kelly Asbury who I had a drink with before Christmas. That sounds much more mysterious and exciting than it was but I’ll leave it at that. All I can assume is that my invite was lost in the post. 🙂
