Who could fail to be impressed or pleased with a home made gift made from their favourite chocolate?
It is all very simple. Melt chocolate of your choice, It needs to be ‘real’ chocolate not cooking chocolate. I always melt chocolate in the microwave but you must be very patient and do it in 10 second bursts to avoid burning the chocolate. The stars above use about 200g of chocolate, they are very big and deep. Chocolate was poured into cookie moulds placed on parchment paper and then decorated with sprinkles and sweets. The chocolate went hard quicker than expected in this cold weather. We let the chocolate go hard in the fridge and then pushed it carefully out of the mould. It was finished off by wrapping in cellophane and tied with a ribbon.
The chocolate buttons are swirls of chocolate on parchment paper and then decorated. You could draw circles on the under side of the paper to get regular even round buttons but I like the randomness of sizes without that, but you must remember if placing in jars they need to get through the neck of the jar.
I used a Christmas shaped mould to make the snowmen, gingerbread men, Christmas tree and star chocolates. They are going on our dining table on Christmas day!
