It’s been a while since the children and I have had a holiday but many moons ago we were lucky enough to go to some wonderful exotic locations…..the holiday criteria tended to be sun, sand, sea, luxury and in more recent years maybe snow.Culture? Pah…that was going to come when the children were slightly older.
Everyone’s idea of a holiday is different, I wish we were an athletic outdoorsy, camping, cycling, mountain climbing, bungee jumping bunch ….but we’re not. Apart from ski-ing, a perfect holiday for me would involve reading several books and not a lot else.
The sea was always a requisite……my children can spend all day fishing and looking through rock pools for unusual creatures. Sand….well who can get bored building sandcastles? Luxury…..that was for me, high maintenance you see ( only joking) and then snow kept us all amused and felt slightly healthy even if we came back weighing pounds heavier…..for some odd reason.
For me holidays mean…..spending time with your family, reading books, laughing, eating together every night,switching off from ‘real life’, resting, re-charging the batteries, learning, seeing different cultures, meeting new friends, wrapping up warm, spending all day in the fresh air, hot chocolate, eating good food that I haven’t had to cook……
