My daughters and I went to see a screening of the film, ‘The Tooth Fairy’. The film starring Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is about an ice hockey star, Derek Thompson, who shatters children’s future dreams, and their beliefs of the tooth fairy. Someone from ‘up high’ decides that he needs to a learn a few lessons and summons him to tooth fairy land. There he is sentenced to one week as a tooth fairy under the care of case worker Tracy, played by Stephen Merchant ( of The Office fame) and Fairy Godmother Julie Andrews.

The film depicts the hilarious antics this huge man gets up to trying to fulfil his duties, hide his secret from his girlfriend, played by Ashley Judd, and resurrect his flagging career. Stephen Merchant is brilliant as a wannabe tooth fairy and he really lifts the film with his comedic role, I was very impressed. The audience laughed and I could hear the girls really giggling lots of  times.

This is one of those films that can’t fail to make you laugh and lift your mood. A very light, easy to watch, entertaining film. My daughters are the perfect age for this film, younger children may not have understood the humour but would probably be enthralled by the fairy wands and pretty fairy wings.

I asked the girls to mark it out of ten:

Big C- 10

Little I- 10

You can’t beat that!

Health Warning- this film contains scenes of Dwayne with his top off, many times….not for the faint hearted! ;0)

    1. I tried not to gasp too loudly, I may have caused my daughters too much embarrassment otherwise. ;0)
