Inspired by this post at Who’s The Mummy I felt compelled to list my daily routine just to prove that I most certainly don’t need a blogging or internet intervention-
1. Upon waking check iphone for emails, maybe some comments were left on the blog overnight?
2. Immediately after checking emails and before getting up, check Twitter account, someone may have @messaged me and I missed it.
3. Go downstairs and check emails again, just in case I missed one.
4. Put the kettle on and get breakfast for the little ones.
5. Whilst waiting for the kettle to boil check the blog, a comment may not have come through on email.Check Twitter.
6. Check stats, hmmm, usually says nothing for the previous day.Check Twitter.
7. Check camera battery, you can never be under prepared for a photo opportunity, well there is The Gallery to think about and now Blipfoto thanks to Cara Freckles.
8. Open up Google reader, start reading blogs or my favourite, looking at the photos posted on a Wednesday for The Gallery. I can’t just look and not comment, highly embarrassed that Tara probably thinks I’m some weird photo stalker as I comment a lot ;0) Check Twitter again.
9. Midday, realise that I probably should get dressed now, oh and dress the toddler. Just check Twitter quickly but take phone with me so I have instant access.
10. Lunch. Manage to move laptop off the table so I’m not tempted to tweet or just sneak a look at blog posts.
11. Think about possibly starting work on all the legal documentation I should be doing, then remember I’ve not done a post for the blog . Check Twitter, again.
12. Go in the garden hoping to capture a photo or two of the children doing something really great that I can post later on Blipfoto.
13. Oh, dinnertime now. Once again, laptop just about moves off the table away from my twitchy hands. Better check Twitter before though.
14. Bathtime, take phone up so that I can tweet that the toddler is having a bath, haha..
15. Deliberate which photo to upload to Blipfoto, do you realise how hard it is to choose just one when you taken about 100 that day?
16. Read blogs. Check Twitter
17. Put little ones to bed.
18. Tweet, read blogs, write posts, check stats ( hopefully will actually show someone did visit)
19. Late night cup of tea whilst doing the above several times and looking at photos on blipfoto
20. Crawl into bed, play a few games of ‘bee cells lite’ ( my favourite app) on phone, think about reading, fall asleep with book and phone stuck to face.
Of course, this is all tongue in cheek, it doesn’t really happen, honestly, no really honestly, I don’t have a problem…..do I?
Found your site on Reddit today and really liked it.. I bookmarked it and will be back to check it out some more later.
Very interesting. Do you have a facebook or twitter page I can follow you on?
Found your site on Yahoo Answers today and really liked it.. I bookmarked it and will be back to check it out some more later.
You took the words out of my mouth.
I enjoy this write-up, I’ve passed this along to my coworkers within the fashion market. I was a fashion lecturer at Kingston University and am at this time earning a living over a site to bring business pros beneath one roof. I am grateful to come across this post.
I’m quite similar except I very rarely use the internet on my phone as it eats at the battery life. I have even found a twitter application that I can use at work on my desktop computer that doesn’t bleep and auto updates!!
Yes the bleeps would be a bit of a giveaway wouldn’t it. ;0)
.-= Nova´s last blog ..Ooops-I’m sure I should be doing something… =-.
I have to spend a full ten minutes on the computer in the morning before I can really talk to anyone. My dad always used to have to have a coffee and cigarette in the mornings when he woke up. This is my coffee and cigarette.
.-= Capital Mom´s last blog ..Perfect day =-.
That’s it!! It’s progression… ;0)
Oh God we’re all getting bad with this aren’t we! I keep saying I’d like a new phone but if I had emails and Twitter on that I’d be even worse.
I find the best cure is going cold turkey. When we are on holiday and have no access to the internet (I don’t take the laptop) then I seem to manage fine. As soon as I’m home, the obsession kicks in again.
.-= Trish@ Mum’s Gone to´s last blog ..Mum’s Gone to visit Liz Hurley =-.
Gulp….not sure I could go cold turkey…;0)
Must admit there are so many distractions nowdays, I’m bad enough but I do wonder what will be available when our children are older…no one will ever talk to each other will they.:0S
Oh gosh your day sounds a lot like mine. I must cut back!! It sucks you in and then there’s no return. Was reading in the papers last week about someone who gave up all social media including their PC for two weeks (or it may have been a week) as an experiment.
Seen your name a lot round the blogosphere. Thanks for taking the time to visit mine. Looking forward to getting to know you better.
.-= Deer Baby´s last blog ..Facing My Childhood Fears. Like, literally =-.
Scary but I think I would find it really hard to give up internet for two weeks…gulp!;0)
I try so hard to keep some semblance of control on blogging wetc luckily blocked myself out of twitter … still dread to think how much time I spend doing this I suppose I could be knitting instead!!!!
It is scary I must admit…yes stay away from Twitter…it’s evil lol….;0)
Sounds very familiar….and although I try really hard not to let it – I’m finding it’s creeping into my work day! Kinda like right this very minute!
.-= gigi´s last blog ..You’ll Never Believe It….. =-.
Ooops, you need a break every now and then though! ;0)
Bloody does in this house aswell! Except when i go to work – Boo hoo!
.-= Lookingfabinyourforties´s last blog ..Looking for Limited Edition Fashion? =-.
I expect tweeting and blogging wouldn’t go down well while you are working would it? ;0)
