We all know how to make these but sometimes we forget to take the very short time out to do it. My children love these.

Ingredients

  • 80g butter or margarine
  • 200g marshmallows
  • 6 tbsp golden syrup
  • 200g rice krispies
  • 70g chocolate
  1. Melt the butter, marshmallows and golden syrup very slowly over a low heat.
  2. Mix the rice krispies into the melted gooey mixture ensuring they are well coated.
  3. Pour into a greaseproof paper lined tin and place in fridge to cool.
  4. Remove from the fridge and press the mixture down to make a flatish surface- this can be difficult when the mixture is still warm as it is so sticky.
  5. Melt the chocolate, either slowly in a bowl over simmering water or as I do, in the microwave, be careful not to over do it or the chocolate will not be any good. Cool very slightly.
  6. Place chocolate into a sandwich/food bag that has a cocktail stick poked through the corner ( I only learnt this trick yesterday at New Day New Lesson) so simple I don’t know why I hadn’t thought of it before.
  7. Remove the cocktail stick and squeeze the chocolate out to decorate the set rice krispie mixture. You could just drizzle it with a spoon as well, it depends how intricate you want to be with the pattern.
  8. Chill until the chocolate is set.
  9. Remove from the tin and using a sharp knife cut into whichever shapes you like. try not to eat all at once.

This recipe can easily be Gluten Free if you ensure that the rice krispies, marshmallows and chocolate is gluten free.
