So Tara’s prompt this week for The Gallery was tough, well tough for me anyway. I’ve never been one to love having my photo taken or enjoy looking at photos of myself so I wracked my brain thinking of ways to avoid posting a picture of me. I had all sorts of ideas. You may breathe a sigh of relief…I nearly braved it and posted a picture of myself sunning in an exotic location but for fear of retribution due to envy I decided to show you a picture of me looking my worst…..in ski wear! I mean, who looks good in ten layers, googles, helmets and hoods? Oh, okay, some of you might but I don’t.
So….here is ME. In a bubble…on my way up a huge mountain in Val d’isere, France, probably ‘phhwfttting’ quietly wondering what joys this particular mountain would hold for me. I have a love/hate relationship with skiing. I have been known to have the mother of all tantrums at the top of a mountain wondering how the hell I am ever going to get down to the bottom. If there was an alternative other than skiing or major injury then I would probably have found it by now but I haven’t. Unfortunately.
Saying that, I do love skiing too…..the wind whipping, the stomach flipping, the thrill, the whoops when you get down a really hard run….

Great pic! Judging by the 10 layers and ice on the skis it wasn’t one of those pleasantly warm skiing days?! You’re making me yearn for it now, it’s been about 5 years since I set foot on a slope….maybe next year (is what we keep saying to ourselves!)

Thank you, it is such a lot of effort to get into the swing of but once those holidays are booked you become hooked again. I went 17 years between skiing and was amazed how you don’t forget how to ski. ;0)

But it’s so cool that you ski. I love that. I’ve only tried once on a dry slope in Sheffield. I was pants. No balance. I love the tobogganing though. 😀

Oooo- dry slopes are so hard to ski on, they don’t compare at all to ‘real’ snow. I remember my first time on a dry slope….I am surprised I ever went skiing after that and even the first time I went with the school was awful. I hated it. Yet….I could not go tobogganing- that to me is just too scary. Funny how different we all are isn’t it ;0S
I tried skiing once. They had to stop the chair lift thingy because I was unable to ski in a straight line and kept veering uncontrollably into it. Not one of my finest moments.

I’ve never been skiing, too worried about breaking a leg and not being able to run! Really fancy some of those Austrian resorts in summer though.

Skiing doesn’t interest me in the slightest. Holidays should involve laying down all day on sun loungers, I wouldn’t want to do anything to tire myself out!

I know exactly what you mean, I love the sun too but it is such a feel good holiday. You always think you will come away having lost pounds due to all the exercise but all the food and hot chocolate consumed usually means the pounds pile on. It’s just a different holiday.
Just like me, there are hardly any photos of me in existence! I’m usually the one taking them, not starring in them.

To tell you the truth the thought terrifies me too, but the thrill is great too. It’s a strange combination.
James Bond eat your heart out! You look fabulous! Last time I went skiing I was 14, my ski suit was too big for me and my nose bled at altitude…not cool!
