Domestic Goddess I’m not……no, I could never be accused of that.
What’s that? Did I hear a gasp? She has five children and she’s not a domestic goddess?
I can cook, I just don’t have the inclination very often. Although of course my children get fed, I’m not very adventurous anymore. There is nothing worse than slaving over a hot stove all day to produce a wonderful meal that every child turns their nose up at. There are only so many rejections a woman can take!
Oven chips!!! ( or fries for my American friends) Love them! For years they were rarely in the freezer or part of our vocabulary but then Big E was diagnosed with Coeliac disease nearly two years ago. Big E was ‘the Pasta King’ and unfortunately hates potatoes of any kind. He now eats oven chips…phew!! Result!
Baked Beans- Carbohydrates, iron and protein all rolled into one and they all eat them. Brilliant!!
Eggs- quick, easy, versatile, cheap and nutritious. Grrreat!
Changing the subject slightly-Ironing……what’s that? I am the worst ironer walking this planet. That’s if I get around to doing, I have a mental block where ironing is concerned. I’ve been known to let a pile grow so tall it could compete with Mount Kilimanjaro.
I have been very fortunate to have help in this area for several years now. I would go without food just to keep this help.
Anyway, I’m feeling smug today.
1. I went to the Supermarket and did a huge shop…..food and Christmas presents. Now this is a mean feat for me……I’m an internet shopping lover and never enter the domain of a supermarket. What a revelation.
2.Don’t all get jealous but….the cost of all of this shopping was about to break the bank. Then, I remembered I had some Nectar points ( reward points from a big supermarket) so I asked if I could use them. * Buffing my nails* £140 off !!!!! YES! Result! I couldn’t believe it! And all those presents too!!
3.I got home and made some soup as I was feeling especially domesticated and two huge chicken and bacon pasta bakes ( one was gluten free for son) Simple I know but it reminded me how much I do enjoy cooking.
The trouble is there is always something more important to do, Twitter beckons, Emails ping, Blog posts scream to be read and written, Bejeweled scores need to be beaten, oh and five children demand my attention, need a taxi driver and want cuddles ( not complaining about that one though!)

Your post today is why I make a point of coming back to this domain
Five? Five?? Err, hanging my head in shame at all my moaning…
Over to say a masiive thankyou for reading my blog, it really made my morning to see you up there – cheers!
