It’s nine years since my son was diagnosed with coeliac disease and boy has the range and availability of gluten free products changed. In ‘those days’ there were about two brands and nothing particularly fun (especially for a child), and I used to have to go to about four different supermarkets to keep things remotely interesting. Thank goodness for companies coming up with new products on what feels like a monthly basis, and that includes Genius who happen to make my son’s favourite sliced bread.
Genius sent us their new seeded brown farmhouse loaf (RRP £3), cinnamon & raisin bagels and plain bagels (RRP £2).
The seeded brown farmhouse was very good and did not break up or fall apart as some gluten free loaves do. Annoyingly gluten free bread has a tendency to often have big holes in it but this one was complete and intact! Genius uses a tasty, wholesome blend of linseed, millet and golden flaxseed to create the perfect gluten-free farmhouse loaf. The bread is high in fibre, low in saturated Fat, has no artificial preservatives and is a source of Omega 3. The bread was great toasted but also perfect for sandwiches.
The New York style bagels are made using the traditional method to give an authentic chewy outside with a soft dense middle. They tasted pretty good and authentic and were a hit with my son, and daughter who also cannot eat gluten. They are best served toasted or grilled. They are perfect for breakfast but they also make fab snacks for in between meals. I particularly liked the cinnamon and raisin bagels, mmmm.
We would have no problem recommending these Genius gluten free products, in fact they were so good it would be hard to even realise they were gluten free at all! A great addition to Genius!
Disclosure: we were sent these products but all words and opinions are my own.
