Do you ever get bored with making sandwiches or rolls for the children? I find this tends to come to a head during half
term when they ask for yet another ham roll, yawn. This recipe for super quick pizza pinwheels can be made by the children, so you don’t have to, they are also great for picnics and for lunchboxes. We used pepperoni in our pinwheels but you can get a lot more inventive than that dependent on likes.
They do look very rustic but not bad for an eight year old, and children like to make their own food…you could get a darker finish by brushing a little beaten egg onto the wheels before sprinkling the remainder of the cheese on but it’s not necessary.
These super quick pizza pinwheels taste just as a great cold which means they’ll survive lunchboxes or snack time. They also taste really great and would make a great addition to parties too.
Feel free to make your own pizza sauce but make sure it is cold when you use it. Or, if your cupboards are completely devoid of pizza sauce you can use good old tomato ketchup. If using ketchup I would recommend sprinkling a little garlic powder into it as well as some dried basil or oregano to give it a little lift.
