Beach

When the sun is shining you cannot beat a holiday or day out in the UK; beautiful beaches, so much culture you’ll have trouble deciding where to start, parks, forests, lakes, rivers, the list goes on and on. And even better you don’t have to get on a plane you can drive, train or coach it to most places, and take the dog!  Some of the best memories I have when my eldest son was tiny was him standing, just about, overlooking Loch Lomond in Scotland. It is such a beautiful place. As I child I remember my mum deciding at the last minute on a Saturday that we were going to go to the beach and staying overnight, we ended up in Broadstairs, Kent, it was a magical couple of days.

The UK’s leading holiday park operator Parkdean have produced a FREE ‘The UK, Our Way’ 2014 guide featuring a hot list of the best way to keep children amused and busy at UK destinations and attractions as voted by children for children. Thus these are things that children really like and not what Mum and Dad have chosen! You probably can’t go wrong there then. The guide is divided into six sections which include;  Beach fun, Fantastic Food, Energetic days, Making Memories, Outdoor Fun, and Learning and Exploring. The beach guide highlights the best beaches to build sandcastles and the best for crabbing and rock-pooling. Find out where to get the best ice-cream, or the top spots for picnics, as well as where to get the best fish and chips!

Fruit Picking

The guide is jam packed with activities to do around the country, thirty two pages of ideas in fact. Find out where to take the best photos, the best water fun, and the best ways to wear your children out with an energetic activity such as biking, climbing or dry ski slope skiing. I have now got lots of ideas how to keep my children busy this summer, they don’t all cost lots of money, there are ultimate days out but a lot of these activities are free, such as flying a kite on the beach! Our best frugal days out are the beach, which is about 30 minutes away and fruit picking which we can then make into something tasty. ‘The UK, Our Way’ Guide 2014 can be downloaded so that you can prepare for your days out and take it along with you, or it can be viewed online as a flip-book. You can also click through to sites for more information on an area or activity which is very handy. I am very impressed and will be getting the children to have a look and see what appeals to them to help us get through the long summer holidays having as much fun as possible.
