…and hoping to raise some dough.
Today should have been my mum’s 63rd birthday, instead she has been dead for exactly eighteen months. Eighteen months, I can’t believe it. That’s eighteen months I’ve not spoken to her. Considering we spoke on the phone usually at least twice a day I am sure you can understand the hole that has been left. Never have I felt so alone in the world as I have since she died.
Cruelly she was taken far too early, she was diagnosed with cancer in the March, carried on working throughout chemotherapy until September when she started struggling to walk. She came to live with us then spent her last couple of days at The Hospice in the Weald. She was lucky I suppose in some respects that her illness was short considering the pain she was in for the last few months and we couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful passing thanks to the hospice and the staff. However she shouldn’t have died, she had so much to live for…six grandchildren, a job she loved, retirement in the future where she was hoping to do more of her beloved traveling. But she did…
Brioche Pasquier, who make very lovely breakfast goodies including brioche, approached me a while ago and asked me if I would like to be part of their Super Team and run Cancer Research’s Race for Life; they are hoping to ‘Raise some Dough’ to the tune of £20,000. You can also help here.
My first thought was how can I fit training in along with everything else I have going on including studying, children, work etc and I was slightly hesitant. However I had a good talk with myself and told myself I was being lazy and self-indulgent and if I couldn’t even do this in memory of my mum then I was being ridiculous. So, here I am, thanks to Brioche Pasquier sponsoring me, and getting my fund raising off to a start I am now taking part in the Hastings Race for Life on 15th June. I have also been sent some tips on how to prepare for the run.
So if you can spare a few pennies to sponsor me I would be very grateful and lets hope that those pennies fund research into beating cancer for good!
If you would like to donate a little something you can head to my Just Giving Page HERE.
Thanks to Brioche Pasquier for the opportunity and for supporting Cancer Research’s Race for Life.
Well done you, I did race for life a couple of years ago.
Thanks, I did it a few years ago…don’t think I have run since then! Eeeeek.
Well done! I haven’t donned a pair of those trainer type things for about 2 years so let me know next time you’re ‘in training’ and I’ll come too! xx
Okay, definitely! Will have to start with a slow plod first x
