Now I am warning you, get the violins ready because I have a sad story to tell you…although you will be pleased to know that it does have a happy ending.

A long long time ago when I was a young girl I lived in a street full of children and after school every night we would play out in the street until called in for tea or it got dark. This was the time when everyone still got their milk delivered by the milk man in the early dawn hours…and the soda stream man would deliver new soda stream flavours to our next door neighbours. I say this with gritted teeth. Hmmm, now I have to admit to being a teensy bit jealous. Oh okay I was very jealous because no matter how much I begged and pleaded,  my mum would not let us get a Soda Stream. Down right cruel don’t you think? I mean of course EVERYONE I knew had one…yes an exaggeration but well, you know how it is. As I got older the pain eased a bit especially after all, I thought that the Soda Stream was sadly no longer…

Roll on ten years or so ( cough ) a lovely PR called Caroline contacted me and asked me…yes you’ve guessed it if we would like to test out a Soda Stream!! Oh my goodness…could I say no even though my children are only allowed to drink fizzy drinks on special occasions? Of course I couldn’t, and so that is how a brand spanking sparkly Soda Stream landed on our doorstep one day…whoever said things come to those who wait was so right. 😉

And here it is….my very own Soda Stream

It took seconds to assemble and a minute or so to read the instructions and then we were away, fizzing and whizzing, and popping then burping. There are many flavours to choose from, the childrens favourite being lemonade and mine diet coke and slimline tonic! Never will I ever have to climb the walls when I realise I don’t have any diet coke in the house or tonic to go with my vodka because with this little gadget I have an instant supply made from tap water and flavoured syrup. I am pleased that there is a huge variety of sugar free flavours to appease my healthy-ish food and drinks rule. There are even fizzy water and energy drink flavours too. I think at £3.49- £4.49 per bottle of favouring which makes up to 12 litres of drink the prices are good value for money. This is definitely a way to save money if you buy a lot of fizzy drinks.

The soda stream model I have is called Pure and is aesthetically pleasing to the eye matching the other gadgets I have in the kitchen although I was a bit shocked at first how tall it is.My only tiny little complaint is that I wish you could get ‘real’ Coca Cola syrup for it but in much the same way I can eat cooking chocolate if I want chocolate I can certainly drink Soda Stream’s diet coke if I want some coke!

So, in conclusion I LOVE IT!! But, then after wanting something for, okay I’ll be honest…thirty years it would be a bit sad if I didn’t, wouldn’t it?

  1. Oh we have one too. I won it and it has pride of place on my work top. I must admit the only one I’m not so keen on is the cola, but all the others we love.
