For a very very long time I have been obsessed with whales. Probably my biggest must see before I die is to see a blue whale. I have researched how and where and it is on the agenda of life. I have been lucky enough to see humpback whales and that was a highlight of my life. So, any film about whales just has to be seen.
We were very lucky to be invited to a special screening of ‘Big Miracle’ the other week.
With an impressive cast including Drew Barrymore, John Krasinski, Kristen Bell, Dermot Mulroney, Tim Blake Nelson, Vanessa Shaw and Ted Danson, ‘Big Miracle’ is based on the real life story about three grey whales trapped in rapidly forming ice in Alaska. Local reporter Adam Carlson (John Krasinki ) and ex girlfriend Rachel Kramer (Drew Barrymore) a feisty environmentalist and GreenPeace campaigner attempt to save the whales. They just have to persuade the American and Russian governments, plus the oil companies and the native Inuits first.
If you love a good emotional animal story then this is the film for you. Expect tears, heart in mouth moments and some funny bits. We really enjoyed this film and my daughters have been talking about it constantly ever since. It did also keep Little M, aged 4 interested but it probably isn’t really for this age group generally. I would say it is best for children aged 8 years and above if they are not too sensitive.
This is definitely one we would recommend and is out in the UK 10th February 2012.
We give it a big five out of five cupcakes award.

I’m really looking forward to seeing this, even more so now x
It really is a lovely film and we are still talking about it. 🙂 xx
