Everyone needs a little bit of chipmunk cheekiness in their life and you can get a fix with the latest film from Twentieth Century Fox, Alvin and the Chipmunks-Chipwrecked. The newest caper, out on 16th December, sees the precocious six some and their ‘dad’ Dave take a well earned holiday on board a luxury cruise ship. Unfortunately because of Alvin’s bad behaviour the six chipmunks end up stranded on a desert island, and also Dave stranded on the island but with their arch enemy ‘Uncle’ Ian.
Expect a lot of high pitched singing, very sweet and catchy but do go prepared with earplugs if you have sensitive hearing. The songs are well up to date and I saw so many children bopping along to the music. There is a very touching rendition of SOS sung by Jeanette at an apt moment.
Adults won’t be disappointed with the funny mix of Lost and Castaway similarities along with the deranged island resident meets famous Chipmunks.
I found Alvin a little irritating at first with his spoilt irresponsible behaviour but was pleased that the ‘moral’ of the story was that when the going gets tough they can all pull together.
I have to admit to being pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the film, I can even imagine watching it again. I thought it was funny, sweet and a very clever use of songs that seemed perfectly chosen for each scene. Dare I say it I wouldn’t mind a little Theodore chipmunk, he is so so cute.
Would I recommend it? Yes I would! It is a very good film for children and perfect for adults and children of all ages.
The scores are
8 year old 4/5 cupcakes
4 year old 4/5 cupcakes
Me….it would have been a 5 but for the high pitched singing that made my ears vibrate a little so it’s a big, well deserved 4!
I can’t wait to take my kiddos to this. Thanks for the review- now I am even more excited!
I would love to see this. The boys have loved the first two and we are taking them to the cinema on Xmas eve for the oldest birthday, but he wants to see happy feet II. x
It was sooo good, I have forgotten about Happy Feet 2…tempted to take mine to that. 🙂
