When I dream of ABC by Mr Henry Fisher
When I first saw this book I knew I was going to be impressed, I certainly do judge a book by it’s cover and this one looks fab. It is a very thick book too and I wanted to read it to three year old Little M immediately.
We were not disappointed. Each letter has it’s own two pages, one page for words and the other for the most lovely pictures. After reading alphabet books for seventeen years now I was delighted that different words from what has become the norm were used to represent each letter. For example, Angel for ‘A’ and Mermaid for ‘M’. This really brings the alphabet up to date and with the times. A very beefy book with lots of information to help young children learn the letters of the alphabet, ‘When I dream of ABC’ is a joy to read.
When I dream of ABC has also been shortlisted for The People’s Book Prize and you can vote for it here.

Milly the Meerkat by Oakley Graham
Do you remember the story of The Boy who cried wolf? This book is a modern day version about Milly the Meerkat who gets bored one day whilst acting as look out for her colony. Her actions have grave consequences and Milly has a few lessons to learn. A great retelling of the famous fable with beautiful pictures of the African desert. I think that pre-schoolers will take heed and learn an important lesson from this book about the repercussions of lying. Little M particularly enjoyed this book but Little I, aged eight years also liked listening to it at bedtime.

I was sent both of these books to review
I love your writing, and the cherished by me logo! I get over 2000 emails a day most go straight into the bin (hell I don’t have time to read them all….) I will be looking for yours in the future lovely…
When mine was small, I loved finding new books to read to him – as well as some old classics. It’s fabulous to foster the love of reading to a child! Even today, you will still find mine hunting for “something” to read!
