I live in a tiny village but with children going to schools outside the village until recently we have always been on the periphery of all the activities. The village has a small primary school, a beautiful country church and a village hall which among other activities hosts a popular amateur dramatic society. Yes the village has it’s dramas and there is no where to hide and everyone knows everyone’s business, as is normal in such a small area, but you can’t fault how hard it’s members work to make here a better place. The school is fund raising at the moment and some of the parents organised a themed charity night. I was blown away by the effort made, the theme was Jamaican night and the village hall was transformed into a Jamaican beach bar!! Car included! All the villagers got dressed up and I mean the full works! A lot of people were completely unrecognisable, I felt very humbled and being me also embarrassed because I thought I could hide in the corner wearing a black dress. I had no idea that so many everyone would dress up and so my black dress had the opposite effect. Trust me! I won’t do that again. Anyway, the sleepy village, that doesn’t have a pub or shop was rocking last night and it made me very proud to be part of it. I kept looking around incredulous, thinking, “This is my village? Wow!”
I have my ticket to Cybermummy11, yay! Thanks to the very generous I’m So Fancy. I’m already so excited and I get to stay in London overnight, we won’t mention the hotel on here but those that know, know that it’s going to be a bit tough for me but not one to give up a night in London I will swallow my pride and get on with it and enjoy!
I am also very very excited to be attendingΒ Save The Children Born to Write blogging conference later this month. Save the Children have a new campaign at the moment No Child Born to Die I will be writing a post this week in the hope that I can win a place on a masterclass run by author Melvin Burgess.
My gorgeous toddler boy who hasn’t been so gorgeous this week has a teeny tiny crush I think and it is so sweet. He talks constantly about a little girl at his nursery and tells me he looks after her as she is younger than him. Awww, I can’t help but melt when he goes on about her.
I am now the proud owner of a pair of glasses, not a new pair of sunglasses unfortunately but a pair of glasses to help me read and drive at night. I was told to blame my parents so here I am saying thanks very much! π
On Friday I had a lovely impromptu night out with a couple of very good friends. We were out celebrating a big life changing event for one of my friends and we put the world to rights over a lot of wine.
I’ve had some lovely packages this week too, a goody bag of gorgeous toys from The John Crane Blog, two fantastic books that I can’t wait to start ( I have to finish The Vampire Diaries first though) and some more beauty products that I review for Superdrug. I love getting parcels in the post.
Send lots of good thoughts and vibes this way if you can, I think this is going to be a tough week coming up for my family. I also believe I could at last get an important document signed sealed and delivered which will mean I have some huge decisions to make very quickly. I am still praying for Karma to kick in because the picture being painted at the moment is that bullies do win and I know that is so terribly wrong.
So cute about his first crush!! Bless!! Parcels always cheer me up!! Just had my next order delivered from what I used my next vouchers for… lots of cute boys stuff for Oli’s room! Made me feel better having ‘new’ things! π
Oh that voucher is burning a hole in my bag, trying to save it for a rainy day. π
Aww how adorable your baby boy has his first crush. I’m thinking of you this week and hope everything goes well. Sending you positive vibes x
Thank you Susan, actually the week so far has not been quite what I thought it would be. Unfortunately that means it could be next week. Oh well. XXX π
Sending good vibes your way for a good week and looking forward to seeing you at the Save the Children conference.
Thank you and it will be great to see you . X
Thrilled to be able to help! Looking forward to seeing you there! x
Thanks again. π xx
Sweets – good thoughts/vibes are ALWAYS headed your way from over here. How fun to have beauty products to review! Which reminds me – didn’t you send out a tweet (or a post?) about some mascara you loved? I’m on the prowl for a new one.
Thank you Gigi, much appreciated. x
Well sending strong good vibes from Suffolk as feeling pretty good courtesy of having a waist and a pretty dress ( I am SOOOOO shallow). Hope it helps! Crossing fingers on all fronts for you!
Thanks so much. π
I love getting parcels, the problem is I have to pay for mine! I could do with some reviews at the moment!
Had some lovely things lately, I’m not taking it for granted though as I know it could all stop. Fingers crossed some come your way soon. X
