One little girl in our house has had a great time reviewing the new Zoobles by Spin Master Ltd available in the shops this month. Over a 150 to choose from, Zoobles are collectible colourful balls that spring open to magically reveal characters that can blink, wag their tails and wiggle their ears. The Zoobles open when they are placed on top of the magnetized roof of their little houses or ‘Happitats’.  These toys are recommended for children around four years of age. Ever so slightly over the targeted age it took a lot of questions for me to fully understand exactly what these did. After huffing and puffing a bit because of my persistent questioning, seven year old ‘Little I’ suggested writing about them herself instead.

“I think that it’s good when it springs to life. If it springs to life on it’s house you can play with it, and you can put it to sleep in it’s house. You can press it’s hair and it will blink. I love it when you play all day and a lot of fun!”

I thought ‘Little I’ may be a little too old to be interested in Zoobles but she has told me that she would like to collect them and I can see them becoming a big craze among little girls. Incidentally Zoobles are being targeted at girls and the designs are all very ‘pretty’ which is a shame because I can see there could be a market for more masculine characters to appeal to both little boys and girls.

At £5.99 for a single Zooble I think they are a little expensive, slightly better is two for £9.99. A blossoming garden play set is also available which costs £19.99. I know if I were thirty years younger they would definitely appeal to me. They are colourful, cute, very robust and small enough to tuck in your pocket making them great toys for travelling.

So, taking everything into consideration we award Zoobles a very respectable 3.5 out of 5

  1. Is it wrong to say they sound awful and please don’t let my daughter want them? I’ll only have to prize them out of Dimples’ hands whilst Threeva screams, or prize them out of the dog’s jaws whilst Threeva screams…. girls and their precious toys *sigh*

    1. Hahahaha…absolutely not!! After sixteen years of toys I am getting to the stage where I am sick of them but this is little enough that it’s not obtrusive in any way but yes could be a problem with a cheeky dog! 😉
