Last week I took my eleven year old daughter for a long awaited hospital appointment. I’d already diagnosed her, as I always do.
Just give me a list of your symptoms and I will give you the lowdown way before a doctor can. ;0)
After my nursing training I had planned to go and do medicine. All things medical fascinate me but thank goodness I didn’t in the end…..I have absolutely no stomach for anything now.
But, I was wrong…the doctor diagnosed something I hadn’t even heard of before, or even thought could possibly cause a problem. I thought the weird and wonderful ways she could contort her body was a blessing. Apparently not!
Big C was told that she has Hypermobility Syndrome. This is a benign condition but can cause severe pain and make one prone to injury. Big C scored nearly 100% on the scale used to confirm a diagnosis. In basic terms, her body is too flexible! Fortunately my daughter has never had any injuries and all the dancing she does, appears to have strengthened the muscles in her legs. Fingers crossed the most she will know about it is the pain she suffers in her heels and hopefully that will ease soon.
For more information go to The Hypermobility Syndrome Association.

I spent a number of hours this weekend trying to download, or is it upload, photoshop elements- a free month’s trial. I’ve been using a free online version for a while but it gets frustrating with the time it takes to upload photos onto it and it has it’s limitations. After several attempts, taking a number of hours ‘voila’ it was there in my applications. I hadn’t thought of looking for it there until @beckyl_j tweeted me suggesting I might find it there. What did I do before Twitter….a never-ending plethora of information and help!
I have tried and tried to use it….I’ve managed to whiten teeth, as well as eyes and as well as the lips! I had made lips red, along with the teeth and the eyes and that is about it. Not very successful!
My brother suggested I read the instructions…..grrrr- I just want to play, not do all the boring bits. Looks like I’m going to have to. Unless anyone has any other suggestions for software to use that doesn’t need me to read anything before I use it? ;0)
I wanted to share these pictures of Little M, obviously they’re raw, ‘un- photo shopped’ until I get around to reading the reams of instructions!
Just looking at these pictures of my baby boy makes me want to giggle and laugh with him. He is so cheeky and funny! I hope they make you smile too.
Those are lovely pics, he looks super cheeky! Sorry to hear about your daughter but sounds like her dancing is helping her.
I'm sorry to hear of daughter's diagnosis-keeping my fingers crossed that she doesn't feel any further pain.
Love the pix of Little M! Those little guy giggles & smiles are the best
I am sorry your daughter is suffering, I have no medical training and am also guilty of diagnosing 🙂 Good job she is a dancer xxx
