A homemade almond milk which is dairy and gluten free
Author: Cherished By Me
Serves: 1 litre
Ingredients
200g almonds
Water for soaking
900ml water for the milk
Instructions
Put the almonds in a bowl or jug and cover with water
Soak overnight or for at least 12 hours
Drain the almonds and rinse thoroughly
Put the almonds in a high speed blender or food processor (you may need to do this is two batches depending on the capacity of your blender)
Blitz the almonds and water for one minute at a time until the almonds are really well blended and the milk looks creamy
Strain the milk into a jug using a nut bag or muslin cloth to remove any bits of almond left over
Pour the milk into a container and keep in the fridge for up to three days
Optional, you can add a little salt to the milk or a dash of honey to sweeten it but I honestly don't think it needs it and my children love it the way it is
