Looking for some summer fun, how about a day out in London visiting The O2? Even though I used to live near to The O2,  I have never been there before, so when the children and I were invited to spend the day there I was really excited.

Cruising along…

I like to make my life as easy as possible so I will always choose a train journey over a car and when offered a journey on one of  MBNA Thames Clippers instead of a train to get to the O2 it was no contest! The catamarans’ routes cover all the famous riverside landmarks with convenient stops at major piers.

On MBNA Thames Clippers you get the best view of London’s most popular landmarks from the river. Big Ben, the London Eye, the Tower of London, St. Paul’s Cathedral and The O2 are just some of the attractions you see from the Thames. Tickets available include singles and returns but if you really want to make the most of all it has to offer you can purchase River Roamer tickets and hop on and off all day between fifteen piers. For more information check out the MBNA Thames Clippers site.

Fun at The O2…

Did you know you can spend the day doing activities at The O2 and they won’t cost a penny! And if you get peckish you can spend a few pennies in one of over thirty restaurants, bars and cafes. The problem will be choosing which one…well for me, greedy guts, anyway.

Sky Studios

Sky Studios…

We started our day off at The O2 at Sky Studios where you can stand shoulder to shoulder with your Premier League Being filmed on the virtual Sky Sports Monday Night Football set. cherishedbyme.comheroes on the virtual Sky Sports Monday Night Football set. Lift the trophy and get all the photos and videos downloaded instantly to your email address so you can share with them with friends and family. Imagine getting a video of you standing next to your favourite football player…that’s exactly what happened for M here! How cool.

Walk the walk…

The children practised their football dribbling skills and we all had a go at testing our reaction times on a Batak machine. I won’t embarrass myself by telling you just how bad I was at it…ooops.

Read the news…

After having the opportunity to sit behind the desk and read the latest Sky News in Sky Studios’ interactive studio I have two children who may be thinking of a career in news reading…and like everything else a video was emailed directly to me.

Mini Golf…

We also tried out the Sky Sports putting challenge outside Sky Studios. It got slightly competitive…

Lunch…how do you choose?

After a delicious lunch of chicken enchiladas at Las Iguanas, a Latin mix of Brazilian and Mexican food we headed to the Nissan Innovation Station.

Nissan Innovation Station…

As Official Partner of Team GB and ParalympicsGB Nissan has made sure everyone can watch all the action from the Rio 2016 Olympics on a giant screen.  Sit back and relax on deck chairs, plus a whole host of events and entertainment are on offer throughout the games at the Nissan Innovation Station.

We had great fun taking part in quizzes, test driving a Nissan Leaf (thank goodness it was simulated, I drove all over the place). Unfortunately the children weren’t old enough to try out the NISMO LAB which is a true reproduction of the training facility used by real NISMO racing drivers at Silverstone. It looked a lot of fun.

M had a good go at the wheelchair competition…

Being driven by little brother in the 100% electric gold Nissan Leaf…every ambassador who wins a gold medal at the Rio Olympics is being given one!

We loved all the activities, my favourite was colouring in a car and then watching it ‘come to life’ on screen…technology is so amazing.

Best of all all these activities for the whole day were and are free to everyone. On top of that there are fountains to splash about in outside, Pokemon to catch and if your children are older you can even climb The O2*!

Thanks to the team at The O2 for inviting us, we had a fab day. For more information for a #SummerOfFun check out the site here.
