Did I already say I had an amazing time on the Walt Disney World’s Culinary Showcase press trip? The purpose of the trip was to experience the free Disney dining plan first hand, so if you thought going to Walt Disney World was just about the magic, the rides, and the characters, think again. Surprisingly Walt Disney World is also all about fine dining, healthy eating, new food experiences, top class chefs and experts in every food genre imaginable. I know…I wasn’t expecting that either. I have to admit my previous visits to Disney (a long long time ago) involved a lot of chips, I didn’t see a single chip on this trip, I didn’t smell one either. More about that next time.
Citricos- Grand Floridian Resort & Spa (Signature restaurant)
Suffice to say there is a whole other post, or posts, that will go into more depth about how stunning the food at Walt Disney World was, and all photos in this post were taken by me at restaurants that can be visited as part of the dining plans.
Zucchini Fries – Tony’s Town Square Restaurant, The Magic Kingdom (Waiter Service)

What does this mean?
The Walt Disney World Dining Plan
The Disney dining plan allows guests to dine in a choice of up to 100 locations within the six parks, resort hotels and the Downtown Disney area. There is a choice of three plans tailored to suit individual needs.
The Disney Quick Service Plan includes: 2 Quick service meals plus dessert, 1 selected snack and 1 refillable resort mug per person per night.
The Disney Dining Plan includes: 1 Quick service meal plus dessert, 1 Waiter service meal plus dessert, 1 selected snack and 1 refillable resort mug per person per night.
The Disney Deluxe Dining Plan includes: 3 Quick Service Meals plus dessert or 3 Waiter Service meals plus dessert, 2 selected snacks and 1 refillable resort mug per person per night.
As a parent I know how much the cost of eating on holiday soon adds up especially with children in tow so I was bowled over at the range of cuisine available around Walt Disney World…and included in the cost of the holiday! This equals huge savings of potentially hundreds of pounds per adult. I can’t recommend this enough.
Food at Walt Disney World
Whilst I was at Walt Disney World I ate in Quick service, Waiter service and also the dining plan’s Signature restaurants. They all cater well for children and for people with food allergies, intolerances and special diets. During the trip I had Italian, African, Chinese, Mediterranean and American cuisine, and more. I even managed to grab a quick toastie and coffee when I didn’t want to waste a single moment in the park; all within the free dining plan.
