Apart from the obvious worrying that comes with every pregnancy about the health of the baby, one of the next most stressful things to do is choose a name for your new baby. I dread to think how many hours I spent researching baby names every time I was pregnant to come up with ten names in total, two for each child. Not only did we both have to like the names, the meaning was very important too. Also, I wanted my children to have names that were too popular ( however I think we set off one or two trends ) and I didn’t want them to have a name as unusual as my own. I have never met another me still, however I believe my name is gradually rising in the American charts right now! One tip, keep your name choices to yourselves because you will get a lot of reaction from friends and family who will not be shy in telling you if they don’t like your name choice before the baby is born but find it a lot harder to criticize once the baby is here and named.
Anyway, even though my baby making days are over I still like to see the yearly trends in baby names so I couldn’t resist sharing the list I was sent of the top 10 baby names of 2013 in the UK. You will find the rest of the Top 40 list here at Babynames.co.uk
