I don’t know about you but I still have Christmas decorations lurking about so to think that Pancake day is just 20 days away seems absurd, but it really is only 20 days until 12th February. The day when mums and dads around the nation don their aprons and get tossing. I dread to think how many pancakes I have made in the past. It is a lot. Last year, because I wasn’t home, I did the unheard of and bought some ready made ones. I have to admit they worked out a lot less cheaper and were a lot less hassle than making them from scratch. They certainly have their place when you are short of time.
I was sent some Abra-ca-Debora pancakes to try out…we made savory wraps with the traditional dutch pancakes by filling them with grated cheese and ham, and chocolate filled pancakes with the sweet dutch pancakes. I however sneaked one away and filled it with golden syrup which is my preferred choice of filling ( even better topped with clotted cream, but I’m being ‘good’ at the moment “cough” ) The great thing with pancakes is that they are just so versatile you can fill them with just about anything! Follow Abra-ca-Debora on Twitter for more ideas.
