LOL…so many meanings nowadays in modern text language, “Lots of Love” or “Laugh out Loud”…It all gets a little awkward when texting different people, I often think, “I hope they don’t think I’m sending them lots of love”
Anyway, it is now also the name of a new drink LOL, which is made by Heinz, aimed at the 10-15 year old’s drinks market. A carbonated drink made up of one of your daily fruit quota plus carbonated water. Each 250ml can contains 75% fruit juice and 25% carbonated water. There are three flavours, orange, blackcurrent and raspberry each with their own child appealing modern name such as Razz Bri. There is no added sugar, artificial sweeteners or caffeine, all pluses in my book! I especially have a huge hang up about drinks containing high amounts of caffeine being marketed to children…why? So I am pleased to say LOL doesn’t contain any.
My children found the cans appealing, they are bright very trendy looking cans, smaller than most on the market, containing 250ml rather than the typical 330ml. My 15 and 13 year old children were especially impressed…so bang on the target that Heinz are looking at. The children liked the orange and raspberry flavours but were not keen on the blackcurrent one, I have to say I agreed with them.
I don’t tend to buy any squash or fizzy drinks for my children as they all prefer water..or perhaps that is because we just don’t have it in the house ( I don’t practise what I preach but that’s a parents prerogative isn’t it? ) however for special occasions such as Christmas I do buy a couple of bottles of something different. I would definitely buy LOL for these occasions, I like the idea of sneaking in an extra one of their five a day in the guise of such a treat!
