Do I look stressed? Breakfast and win with Princes

October 9, 2011 · 12 comments

The lovely people at Princes have sent me a hamper full of tinned fruit, fruit juices, bowls and cups and lots more. I also took part in a stress test to see the effects of the morning chaos on the heart rate. Surprisingly my heart rate didn’t fluctuate as much as I was expecting and I think all in all our mornings aren’t too bad. My heart rate was at it’s highest when I was driving, probably due to worrying that my son would miss his train plus the narrow country lanes that I have to negotiate.

A typical morning consists of getting one child to the train station for 7.15 am, two children out of the door to catch their bus, take one child to school and one to nursery.

I used to cook eggs or bacon for the children if they wanted it but I tend not to do that so often now, that certainly reduces stress! Nowadays they tend to have cereal, yoghurts, bagels, bananas or brioche and I had never thought of giving them tinned fruit before. It is certainly a habit we will now adopt. The children loved the peaches and pears, fruit cocktail and juices and what a great way to add some of the ‘five a day’ fruit and vegetables requirements.

We also added yoghurt to the fruit making it an even more filling breakfast. I have also added fruit cocktail to jelly for packed lunches thus sneaking in more fruit into the diet. Compared to the cost of fresh fruit using tinned fruit from Princes can be a more economical way of adding fruit to the diet and for myself with five children is ideal.

I also like the idea of making breakfast muffins with the fruit or even a quick fruit oaty crumble for cold mornings. I will post recipes as I do them.

Are you stuck for what to feed the family in the morning though? I have teamed up with Princes to offer you this breakfast box – helping to take the stress out of the morning routine.

Princes prides itself on offering good value, great quality food that the whole family can enjoy. From canned fruit for your cereal to pure fruit juices for a refreshing morning drink, pack your cupboards with these trusty Princes products and you can whip up a healthy, delicious breakfast in minutes.

To help ease the stress of the morning ritual, the Princes breakfast box includes a set of six bowls and six tumblers, table placemats, an alarm clock, a colouring book to entertain the kids, a relaxing candle for the mums, money-off coupons and, of course, a range of Princes canned fruit – including grapefruit segments, peach slices, pear halves, fruit cocktail, pineapple chunks and mandarin segments – and Princes pure juices.

Bacon is the non-fruit!

I’m a mummy of 2 toddlers and we usually have cereal in the morning. I never thought of different ways of using tinned fruit and will definitely be trying out some of you ideas! Thanks :o )
