The lovely people at John Lewis recently sent me a Lancome Hypnose Mascara. Now it is a long time since I have worn a mascara costing £20 and I have always stated that actually I don’t think expensive mascaras do any better than moderately priced ones. Then again, I have never tried a Lancome mascara before.
Mascara is my one beauty must have. I can go out without any other make up on but without mascara I feel naked, plain and I look tired. So I use mascara everyday and I try different brands all the time. Lancome Hypnose mascara comes in a lovely silver box and on the box it says the mascara will “intensify your look with each sweep of the brush and give up to 6x more volume”
The mascara has a slim wand compared to some mascaras and I liked this as it made for easier application. The colour ‘noir’ is very dark and I felt that the mascara opened my eyes up extending my lashes. I don’t think the mascara is as dramatic as some I have used before but it separates the lashes rather than clumping them together like some do. I was very impressed and I like the finished result very much. I’m not sure it increased my eyelash volume by 6x but then I’m not sure how you would measure this anyway. The mascara is very light on the eyelashes, it hardly feels as though I am wearing any. I can definitely feel the difference between this and cheaper mascaras and Lancome’s Hypnose feels far superior. It is also very easy to remove and I am not left wearing half of it for days after because it refuses to budge.
Most impressive of all is that after nearly two weeks the wand has absolutely no clumps on it. Something I can’t say for other brands which is the most annoying aspect of wearing mascara. I hate having to throw a virtually new mascara away a couple of weeks after purchase because it has gone clumpy.
Will I use this brand again? If it lasts long enough without clumping then it’s initial steep price could actually work out the same as replacing my cheaper brands more often. So, yes it looks as though I will.
