Get ready for Halloween -Halloween cakes

October 21, 2010 · 3 comments

It’s only just over a week away so I thought I’d share these Halloween cupcakes with you. Make a batch of cakes using my favourite recipe . When the cakes are cooled mix  icing sugar and water according to the instructions on the box. I haven’t given quantities because it depends how much you like icing….if you look closely at the picture you’ll see that I like a good thick layer of icing. ;)

For pumpkin cupcakes- mix a tiny amount of red food colouring and some yellow into the icing,  keep mixing until you get the colour you want. Top with a green jelly sweet.

For spider webs- Silver spoon do a black food colouring which you mix into the icing. Using white writing icing- I used a silver spoon one again, draw circles onto the black icing. Using a cocktail stick drag lines from the centre circle outwards. I then finished with frogs and bug sweets.

Eyeballs- Stick either a jelly sweet in the middle of the cake, or an eyeball sweet if you can get some. Using a cocktail stick make veins with red food colouring.
